Conceived in 2000 the VersaBuoy Floating System represents the next truly new generation of floating system technology.
The uniqueness of the Versabuoy system is in the between the top of each hull and the underside of the deck. This connection allows each hull to pitch and roll independently from the topsides. Each hull is sized and ballasted such that it is stable and requires no other constraint or connection. Mooring is by either conventional catenary lines or a taut leg system attached to fairleads located on each hull.
The introduction of these joints make the system reacts to the applied environmental loads in a fundamentally different manner when compared to the performance of single hull floaters. As a result, significant reduction to topsides motions over the full range of design conditions is achieved. A topside motion reduction by a factor of 5 to 10 has been achieved when compared to equivalent floater motions.
The VersaBuoy Hull Configuration allows modular hull construction and non Derrick Barge Installation and consequently cost and schedule savings over other systems for the same payload.
VersaBuoy floater is a proven concept backed by an extensive Model Testing and Verification programs. The VersaBuoy floater concept has arrived from 25 years of Technology Evolution.
The VersaBuoy floaters have proven to be the perfect development concept for wide range of ranging from a minimal payload system such as a to the very large floating structures such as the Mobile Offshore Real Estate (MORE). |
